Ghazoo Sports kicked off 2018 working with A-League side Adelaide United and National Defense Ministry FC (Army FC) from the Cambodia League.
Both professional teams are competing in the PSM Makassar Super Cup Asia 2018 which kicks off today (Jan 19) in the Indonesia city of Makassar.
Ghazoo Sports was commissioned by the event organiser Kayron International to invite two professional teams to play in the tournament which is also a pre-season test for the host PSM Makassar ahead of their season in the Liga 1 Indonesia.
Malaysians would be familiar with the Indonesian side Dutch head coach, Robert Alberts, who had won the Malaysia Cup with Kedah back in 1993 and have also coaching stints with Sarawak and Malaysia Under 19 side.
The fourth team to make the tournament is Home United from Singapore.
Assisting Ghazoo Sports on ground in Makassar in ensuring a smooth coordination of the tournament for it's clients are Badiuzzaman Jamhari, managing director of football event company BolaBros and former FA Penang marketing manager, Zulfikar Amizan. The two are working closely in ensuring all requirements and request meet international standards.
Since 2013, this event is the fourth event involving and an A-League club to compete in international friendlies in Asia and vice versa by Ghazoo Sports. Previously working with Perth Glory and even Malaysian side Felda United during their pre-season visit to Australia.
Ghazoo Sports is keen to bridge the gap between the Asia especially ASEAN nations with Australian football to help grow the game.
Host PSM Makassar will be aiming to please their fans at the Andi Mattalatta Stadium but with Adelaide United first team in season right now, the club sent a strong squad mixed with experience and youth.
Part of the Reds' team will include 18-year-old Pacifique Niyongabire, who has impressed Adelaide United Head Coach, Marco Kurz, on numerous occasions this season, recently making his professional debut against A-League Champions, Sydney FC. Meanwhile, Thomas Strain has been very impressive since departing English Football League Championship club, Aston Villa.
Army FC on the other hand have deployed their strongest side for the tournament which offers prize money.
